Telehealth Consultations
Independent GPs consulting from MyClinic locations may offer convenient telehealth consultations by phone, allowing eligible patients to speak with a doctor without attending the clinic in person. Telehealth appointments may be suitable for repeat prescriptions, medical certificates, follow-up care, discussion of test results and some general health concerns.
Bulk billing is available for eligible telehealth consultations at selected MyClinic locations. Doctors consulting from MyClinic Werribee Village, MyClinic Bacchus Marsh and MyClinic QV offer bulk billed consultations to patients with a valid Medicare card, subject to Medicare eligibility and appointment type. MyClinic Prahran and MyClinic Balaclava also offer selected bulk billed Quick Consult appointments, including for services such as medical certificates and simple prescription requests.
Telehealth availability, Medicare eligibility and consultation fees vary depending on the individual doctor and appointment type. If a physical examination is required, the consulting doctor may recommend a face-to-face appointment.
Telehealth GP Consultations
Telehealth consultations provide a convenient way to speak with an independent GP consulting from a MyClinic location without needing to attend the clinic in person. Depending on your healthcare needs, a telehealth appointment may be suitable for medical certificates, repeat prescriptions, discussing test results, follow-up care and other general health concerns.
During a telehealth consultation, the consulting doctor will discuss your symptoms or healthcare concerns over the phone and determine the most appropriate next steps. If your healthcare needs require a physical examination or cannot be appropriately managed by telehealth, the doctor may recommend booking a face-to-face appointment.
Assessment
The consulting doctor will assess your healthcare needs based on the information discussed during your telehealth appointment. If a physical examination or face-to-face consultation is required, the doctor may recommend that you attend a clinic.
Where clinically appropriate, prescriptions may be provided electronically and referrals or requests for further investigations may also be arranged.
Telehealth consultations may be suitable for a range of healthcare needs that do not require a physical examination, including:
• General health concerns
• Repeat prescriptions and referrals
• Medical certificates
• Discussion of pathology or test results
• Follow-up consultations
• Some mental health consultations
• Ongoing management of chronic conditions
